Homecoming & Alumni Travel
HBCU Homecoming Travel Guide and School Directory
The Yard. The tailgate. The reunion that runs late. Pack for the whole weekend with an HBCU homecoming checklist, thoughtful bag choices and a directory to help you find your campus.
Homecoming has a way of turning a weekend into a full itinerary: the campus visit, the tailgate, the alumni dinner, the night out and the people you came back to see. Pack around those plans, and leave room for what comes home with you.
BLK Luggage is a Black-owned, family-owned travel brand with carry-ons, backpacks, convertible garment bags and travel accessories. Our connection to culture includes a commitment to HBCU communities, Black creatives and entrepreneurs. These travel essentials are made for homecoming and the trips that follow.
What to Pack for HBCU Homecoming
- A travel outfit: Choose comfortable layers for the drive or flight, and keep an extra layer accessible.
- Campus and tailgate looks: Plan around the weather, your school's colors and the activities on your itinerary. Bring comfortable shoes for walking.
- An evening outfit: Pack separately for alumni dinners, performances, reunions or fraternity and sorority events.
- Travel essentials: Keep your ID, event confirmations, medications, phone charger and toiletries easy to reach.
- A return-trip plan: Leave space for campus purchases and keep worn clothing separate from clean pieces.
Write out the actual events you plan to attend before you add another outfit. One pair of shoes may work for several plans; a separate pair may be useful for a formal event. Check the forecast close to departure and recheck your event's venue rules before choosing the bag you will carry inside.
Choose Your Homecoming Travel Bags
| Your Trip | A BLK Piece to Consider | Packing Details |
|---|---|---|
| A flight and a few days away | The Retreat Carry-On Collection | Polycarbonate shell, reinforced aluminum frame, spinner wheels and an organized interior. Choose Midnight or Espresso. Check your airline's size limits against the listed exterior dimensions. |
| A short campus visit | The Overnight Travel Backpack | Laptop compartment, luggage sleeve and included removable compression bag for clothing and daily essentials. |
| A reunion dinner or Greek formal | The Weekend Convertible Garment Bag | A dedicated garment section and seven compartments bring clothing and weekend essentials together. |
| Several outfits in one trip | The Bag Vacuum Compression Bag | A reusable 20L bag helps reduce clothing bulk inside your luggage. Compression changes volume, so check your bag's packed weight. |
| A coordinated travel setup | First Class Travel Bundles | Choose Overnight, Weekend or All Access based on the pieces you want to take. |
Plan the Weekend Before You Book
Confirm homecoming and alumni event dates with your school or alumni association. Check where each event takes place, the travel time from your hotel, parking arrangements and ticket requirements. An off-campus reunion may call for a different plan than a day on campus.
Give your luggage order time for processing and shipping. Review our shipping policy and contact BLK before ordering if you need help with a specific departure date.
